Sochorová válcovna TŽ has put into operation the biggest investment since 2002


The company Sochorová válcovna TŽ (Billet Mill), a part of the Trinecke zelezarny – Moravia Steel Group since 2002, recently puts into operation the largest investment since the privatization. To acquire the new reheating furnace, the company spent about half a billion Czech Crowns.

The reheating furnace was delivered by the Italian company Danieli Centro Combustion, which is the world’s largest producer of such equipment. “Regarding the variety of possible materials to be reheated, the investment is a unique in the world. The walking beam furnace will warm up continuously cast rounds dia. 410 and 525 mm, as well as blooms of 270 × 330 mm or 300 × 350 mm in length from 2.5 to 6 meters with the performance of 120 tons per hour,” says Rostislav Wozniak, the Executive Director of the company.

The reason for the purchase of a new reheating furnace was need of heating the entire dimensional portfolio of the charge material, while improving the parameters of heating. “Besides the positive impact on the environment, we will benefit from a reduction in gas consumption, i.e. energy intensity of production,” adds the director.

Over the past four years, Sochorová válcovna TŽ invested more than one billion Czech Crowns, which in addition to the increase in production volume can significantly improve the labor productivity, and also to concentrate on products with higher added value.

One of the key production programs of the company seated in Kladno, which is employing 700 people now, are the deliveries for the automotive and shipping industries, and manufacturing of pressure equipment, including pressure cylinders.
