The 18th year of The Night Full of Stars attracted thousands of fans from Czech Republic and surrounding countries to Třinec once again. More than sixty domestic and foreign rock bands played at two stages from Friday afternoon till early Sunday hours. Their fans accompanied them and created an incredible atmosphere. The Night Full of Stars is a festival with traditional rock names. This year welcomed an amazing bands e.g. Vypsané fixy, incredible Aleš Brychta with his ABBand, further heavy metal Bonfire, German power metal Edguy, Vitacit with Ladislav Křížek or Slovak Horkýže slíže.

This year, “Gorolski Święto“ (Highlander´s Festival) celebrated its 63rd anniversary. The scene of the amphitheatre was dominated by remarkable ensembles, e.g. Czech, Slovak, Polish but also exotic Kenyan ensemble "Pith of Africa" or Romanian Ansambul Folcloric Doina Timisului. The line of performances was completed by excellent Slovak ensemble “Detva“ and Polish ensemble “Hajduki“. The festival was full of splendid atmosphere that traditionally belongs to the “Gorol“ every year.




40th year of the International Folklore Festival, which organizer has been for long years Matice slezská, took place in September 2009 in beautiful natural area of the village Dolní Lomná. The spectators could enjoy the ensembles from Czech Republic, Moravia, Slovakia and even from Latvia. Roughly seven hundred of performers appeared at the stages and they gained well-earned applause from the audience.
